Canon Canada is proud to announce that the company has made a combined donation to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund and the GiveClear Foundation’s Fraser Valley Flood Support Fund in support of communities impacted by severe flooding in British Columbia. Equally distributed, the donation will be used to support residents and businesses as they recover in wake of this event.
In response to the devastating damage, the Abbotsford Community Foundation, the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and the University of the Fraser Valley have jointly established the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund. The fund aims to provide grants to local agencies involved in the disaster relief effort, as well as to businesses in flood-affected areas.
Under a comprehensive needs assessment, the donation made to the GiveClear Foundation’s Fraser Valley Flood Support Fund will be used to carry out recovery and preparedness activities for future events. With a new philanthropy model, the GiveClear fund will continue collaborating with local charities, the cities of Abbotsford and Chilliwack and the Chamber of Commerce to disburse funds where needed.
“As a member of the Greater Vancouver business community, we are committed to supporting our customers, employees and local communities,” says Mr. Nobu Kitajima, President and CEO of Canon Canada. “We are grateful for the indispensable work of organizations like the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund and the GiveClear Foundation, and we hope that this contribution continues to help support the immediate and long-term needs of those who live and work in flood-affected areas.”
