Repair FAQs

Yes, Gold members cannot receive loans during the repair of their equipment, unless their stated turnaround target cannot be met. Products sent for repair must be registered in your “Equipment registry” before they can be sent in. Products sent in for repair that are not registered in your “Equipment registry” will be processed as a general repair and are not eligible for any discount you may otherwise be entitled to.

The following products are not eligible for CPS discounts or expedited repairs:
1. Products that have been modified, other than by Canon Factory Service Center Technicians
2. Products sent in by a dealer or other third party
3. Products that are counterfeit
4. Any products not listed under the “Products for member registration and service” will not be eligible for service turnaround within our stated turnaround targets.
Additionally, you can only receive a discount on a certain number of repairs depending on your membership level. A repair discount will be applied on up to 10 repairs for Gold Members, and up to 15 repairs for Platinum, and up to 20 repairs for Cinema Members during the membership term. Any repairs on additional units will be billed using Canon’s current standard pricing.
CMS provides preventive maintenance on the DSLR/Mirrorless cameras and EF/RF Lenses entered in your CPS Account: comprehensive cleaning of the camera or lens (including image sensor cleaning), tightening of any loose parts, and an operational function check. Dust cleaning inside a lens, and any service operation that would require disassembly of a product, are not included in this service.

If it is determined that additional service is required, you will be contacted with the details. CMS for CPS Gold, Platinum, and Cinema members will be a 7-point Digital SLR/ Mirrorless Image Sensor cleaning, an 18-Point Digital SLR/ Mirrorless Maintenance Service or an 11-Point EF/RF Lens Maintenance Service.

7-Point Image Sensor Cleaning includes:
- Clean image sensor
- Clean mirror (If Applicable)
- Clean focus screen (If Applicable)
- Clean external viewfinder (If Applicable)
- Clean external LCD surfaces
- Clean camera body
- Verify firmware version and update (If Applicable)
18-Point Camera Maintenance Service includes:
- Clean image sensor
- Clean mirror (If Applicable)
- Clean focus screen (If Applicable)
- Clean external viewfinder (If Applicable)
- Clean external LCD surfaces
- Clean camera body
- Check moving parts (Buttons, Doors, Latches)
- Check operation of hot shoe
- Check memory card insertion and removal
- Check lens attachment and removal
- Check camera/lens communication
- Perform image test (Check Exposure and Shutter Speed)
- Verify camera shutter count
- Check internal error messages
- Check operation of terminals and jacks
- Tighten external screws
- Verify firmware version and update (If Applicable)
- Perform pixel mapping for hot or dead pixels (If Requested)
11-Point Lens Maintenance Service includes:
- Clean external lens optics
- Clean external lens body
- Check lens attachment and removal
- Check camera/lens communication
- Check external lens barrel
- Check operation of focus, iris and zoom rings
- Check operation of tripod collar (if applicable)
- Check aperture function
- Perform image test (check exposure and shutter speed)
- Tighten external screws
- Verify firmware version and update (if applicable)
Log into the CPS website and click on the "shipping label" icon. Follow the instructions online.
1. Click the 'Generate Purolator Shipping Label' button.
2. The Purolator Shipping portal will open within a new browser window or in a new tab.
3. Enter the # of Packages being sent in.
4. Ensure all the shipping details are accurate and add any additional details such as Address Line 2 if applicable.
5. Click the "Create & Email Label" button to generate your shipping label.
6. Ship your package to the address listed on the label by dropping off your package at a local Purolator depot or by calling Purolator at 1-888-SHIP-123 to arrange a pick-up.
Inside the box with your unit, please leave a note with your contact info, CPS number, the details of the repair, example photos (if required) and a copy of the proof of purchase, if the unit is within a one year purchase date.
