Canon Canada Unleashed Print at Graphics Canada Expo 2025

Canon showcased unique print applications, new technologies, on-demand printing solutions and more at Canada’s national graphics and printing show.

Innovative Print Solutions and Technologies

Canon Canada was excited to participate at Graphics Canada, the country’s largest and longest-running trade show for the graphics communications and printing industry. Canon Canada was a sponsor of the three-day event held in April at the Toronto International Centre. The biennial trade show serves as a showcase for the latest printing trends and technologies in the industry.

The company’s booth highlighted Canon’s commitment to the future of print – and its pride in its Canadian heritage. Under the official theme of “Unleash Print,” Canon Canada presented a diverse portfolio of professional printing solutions for graphic applications. Many of the samples celebrated Canada, including smiling maple leaf stickers (printed on the Colorado M-series), and scenic full-colour posters (printed on the imagePROGRAF GP-4600S) and postcards (printed on the imagePRESS V series) of the provinces and territories.

Here’s a closer look inside the booth.

Colorado M-series: White Ink Printing for Large Format Graphics

Throughout the three-day event, the Colorado M-series demonstrated what makes it one of the fastest white ink production printer in its class. A fully modular 64” roll-to-roll printer, the Colorado M-series showcased its textured printing capabilities on everything from woodgrain to embossed details like the delicate tentacles of a jellyfish. Visitors also saw the benefits of FLXfinish+ technology, which enables users to add matte, gloss or mixed matte and gloss on the same print, without additional varnish.

Arizona Series: The Possibilities of Rigid and Flexible Media

A gallery wall showcased the elevated and textured printing capabilities of the Arizona series. Samples printed on a wide variety of media – including Fibrex®, plywood and aluminum composite – demonstrated the breadth of application possibilities. A sample printed on Fibrex® gave the illusion it was far more elevated than just a couple millimetres, and a sample printed on 3mm Sintra® gave detail and depth to a design that mimicked the painting style in one of Van Gogh’s most iconic works. The samples were printed using PRISMAelevate, a software application that creates tactile print applications and elevated prints on the Arizona 1300 and Arizona 2300 flatbed series.

Card and Badge Printers, Label Printers: Brand On-Demand

The Label and Card Shop displayed the range of on-demand applications possible on three of Canon’s speciality printers: CX-G6400 inkjet card printer, IX-R7000 thermal re-transfer ID card printer and LX-D5500 dye-based inkjet label printer. From ingredient labels – both matte and glossy – on jars and packaging on products to customer loyalty cards and ID card badges, the storefront showed the gamut of customizable items a business can use to brand itself.

imagePRESS V Family: Customize High-Margin Tasks

A high-speed colour production digital press, the imagePRESS V1000 spent the event printing marketing materials, postcards, photo books, brochures and other high-margin applications that require a personal touch. It also showed off its finishing flair, cutting and binding on site.

imagePROGRAF GP-Series: Vivid Colour Reproduction for Graphics and Posters

The imagePROGRAF GP-4600S is a 44” large-format printer with a seven-colour ink system, including orange ink. As part of the unofficial Celebrate Canada theme, it printed 42” posters that showcased the beauty and diverse landscape of the country, including Jackfish Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Forest in Manitoba, Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City and Centre Street Bridge in Calgary. Each poster printed in mere minutes, for customers to take home and display their Canadian pride.

Inkjet Production Digital Presses: Next-Generation Commercial Print Solutions

Canon marks 10 years of production sheetfed inkjet in 2025, and the Graphics Canada booth showcased not only the capabilities of the current lineup of ColorStream and ProStream web presses – including magazines, photo books, transactional documents, direct mail and marketing collateral – but also samples from the forthcoming varioPRINT iX1700. This entry-level B3 colour inkjet production press supports a wide range of offset media, blending the versatility of digital toner with stable offset production. Visitors got a sneak peak of how it produces packaging, posters, fine art prints, photo books and flyer cards.

PRISMA Software Suite: Automating Your Workflow

Canon solution specialists demonstrated how PRISMA workflow software streamlines print production from composition to completion. Booth visitors saw firsthand how PRISMAprepare easily automates repetitive jobs from document preparation through production, and how PRISMAlytics helps manage print costs.
