State-of-the-art headquarters in Brampton promotes a positive, natural environment and health
BRAMPTON, ON., June 05, 2019 – Canon Canada is proud to announce that it was honoured with the Healthy Workplace Award at the 2019 Business Excellence Awards this past May. The annual award ceremony was established by the Brampton Board of Trade and celebrates local businesses that have had positive impact in the community.
For over 45 years, Canon Canada, a leader in digital imaging solutions, has had the privilege of operating and serving customers across Canada, bound by its corporate philosophy, kyosei: all people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future. In 2016, Canon Canada opened its new state-of-the-art headquarters in Brampton, which is home to hundreds of employees from the Greater Toronto Area. Across the country, Canon Canada employs over 1,000 people located in 13 offices.
“From the moment you enter, Canon’s care for its employees and commitment to a healthy workplace shines through. Their leadership is a role model for companies nation-wide. We are so proud to have Canon in Brampton,” says Todd Letts, Chief Executive Officer of the Brampton Board of Trade. The Healthy Workplace award is nomination-based and is presented to the business or employer that best encourages a healthy workplace and understands that a culture of wellness is tantamount to supporting employee and business health.
“Canon Canada is proud to be a member of the Brampton community and we are grateful for this award,” says Mr. Nobuhiko Kitajima, President and CEO of Canon Canada. “Providing a workplace where employees enjoy working is important to us and we believe this contributes to a thriving organization.”
At the Brampton headquarters, employees enjoy plenty of natural and green spaces – both inside and outside the building – from the atrium’s living gardens to the extensive recreational walking trail in the backyard, surrounding a local naturalized pond. An on-site modernized fitness center is offered at no cost to help inspire employees towards healthier physical lifestyles. Specialized fitness classes like yoga and interval training are offered and seasonal challenges encourage employees to get active.
A secluded reflection room offers a quiet space for employees looking to meditate or reflect throughout the day. The building’s atrium is a hub for employees, for large gatherings and events from summer barbecues to work anniversary celebrations or special guest visits. A spacious cafeteria, public areas and collaboration working spaces throughout the office encourage employees to meet face-to-face whenever possible. Volunteer initiatives like Canon Canada’s Branch Out program gives employees the opportunity to make a positive environmental impact in the communities they live and work in while also promoting teamwork.
Canon also provides online resources and programs that can help assist those facing challenging life situations, providing positive support for the mental health and wellness of employees.
The award comes on the heels of Canon Canada’s recent recognition as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2019, Most Environmentally Progressive Technology Company (Gold Award, Canadian Printing Awards, 2017) and Friends of the Credit Award of Merit (Credit Valley Conservation, 2017).
