Canon Canada Receives Two Canadian Printing Awards

The company also received three honourable mentions at the annual gala celebrating the country’s best printing and technological solutions.

BRAMPTON, Ontario (November 12, 2024) – Now in its 18th year, the PrintAction Canadian Printing Awards is a celebration of world-class printing, environmental leadership and individual industry achievement. Canon Canada Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, was honoured to once again be recognized, receiving two awards, as well as three honourable mentions, across a range of categories this year.

The Canadian Printing Awards program was developed by PrintAction magazine and Annex Business Media. This year’s awards celebrated the creativity and innovation of Canada’s print industry in six distinct segments: printing, print production, packaging, labels, technology and environment. Award winners were determined by a panel of independent judges.

“It is always an honour to receive recognition from industry leaders and experts,” says Justin Lam, Executive Vice President, Business Operations Group, Canon Canada. “These awards speak to Canon’s commitment to innovation. We continually challenge ourselves to bring new ideas to our customers and the Canadian market. To be honoured for these technologies and solutions, as well as our environmental commitment, is a testament to our entire team.”

Canon Canada received the following awards this year:

Category: Self Promotion, Printing Industry Supplier

Winner – ‘Future-proof your business’ – Gutenberg Gala Promotional Box

As a sponsor of the Gutenberg Gala 2024, Canon created a sample box of promotional items for inclusion in the giveaway bags for attendees. The sample box was built around the message that Canon can help customers grow and future-proof their business with different types of specialty applications to adapt to growing market trends. The box included a magnetic media sample printed on the Colorado Series, an elevated print sample produced on the Arizona Series, a tri-fold card sample printed on the imagePRESS V Series, and a postcard sample produced by the varioPRINT iX. The box itself was printed on the Texas Series and finished on the Colex Sharpcut series to showcase Canon’s expanded offering through its third-party partnerships. With production support from Ronik Inc. and PDI Inc., Canon completed 500 boxes for the gala event bags.

Category: Most Progressive Printing Process, Wide-Format Inkjet

Winner – Arizona 1300/2300 – FLXflow Technology

Arizona FLXflow technology is an enhancement to the already released Arizona FLOW and introduces a new feature for even easier media handling for busy printing environments. The Float function reverses the Hold suction vacuum to lightly push the media off the table, allowing for easy positioning of heavy or challenging substrates. The latest version also includes the release of the Instant Switch functionality, which allows for a quick transition between the Hold and Float functionality. The Float and Instant Switch functionalities were released as in-field upgrade options for customers who already have a 1300 or 2300 FLOW table.

Honourable Mention – Colorado M-series – FLXture Technology

FLXture is a feature that was added to the latest release of the Colorado M Series. With FLXture, the user can add subtle surface detail to their prints, creating a luxurious and intriguing feel for their products. They can be creative with their print applications with an easy-to-use recipe in Canon’s PRISMAguide XL software. FLXture will intelligently prepare layers of UVgel ink to stack on top of each other, unlocking a next-level sensory experience. It is targeted toward users in the decor or packaging market who are looking to differentiate their offerings and add an extra specialty effect to their end results.

Category: Most Progressive Printing Process, Production Inkjet

Honourable Mention – Canon ProStream 3160

The Canon ProStream 3000 series is a web-fed inkjet press, combining offset print quality with on-demand, short-run flexibility for a broader range of commercial print jobs. Built on the established ProStream technology, the press delivers speed, efficiency and media versatility to help print businesses reduce turnaround, make-ready time and waste, making today’s shrinking run lengths more profitable and meeting brand owners’ demands for faster time to market.

Category: Most Environmentally Progressive Technology
