ProFusion Expo 2025
Canon Canada unveiled the new EOS R6 Mark III and welcomed a quartet of guest speakers at the country’s largest photo and video event.
Canon Canada was excited to participate in ProFusion Expo 2025. The annual trade show presents the latest and greatest in the world of photo and video, and includes product launches, demonstrations and guest speakers in an intimate and interactive environment. Canon Canada was a gold sponsor of the two-day event held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The company’s 1,200-square-foot booth featured a sweeping display of Canon cameras, lenses and Cinema EOS products. Product experts were on hand to help attendees get hands-on with the gear. A print gallery showcased the imagePROGRAF PRO Series of professional large-format inkjet printers. And a printing station demonstrated the capabilities of Canon’s portable printers. Everyone who stopped by received a complimentary take-home print.
Adding to this year’s excitement was the recent announcement of the launch of the EOS R6 Mark III. With the news unveiled early the morning of Nov. 6, second-day attendees were among the first people to see and try out Canon’s newest full-frame mirrorless camera.
Three Canon Ambassadors shared their creative insights and processes with attendees. Nicole Ashley, an international portrait and wedding photography, outlined her approach to posing and directing real people. The key is building a genuine connection with a subject. Non-models may feel intimidated with a camera focused solely on them. Nicole strives to create a comfortable and welcoming environment that allows a person’s true personality to shine.
Capturing memorable wildlife photography is about much more than your camera settings. You often have only a moment to capture an unforgettable photo. In his talk, Simon d’Entremont, a wildlife and nature photographer, stressed the important role that awareness, creativity and composition also play in photographing subjects who can’t be posed or directed.
Toronto Star photojournalist Steve Russell had a front-row seat to the Blue Jays recent run to Game 7 of the World Series. Steve shared the stories behind the images and offered his perspective on capturing history as happens.
Canon Canada was also excited to welcome award-winning director and editor Ernie Gilbert. His credits include Childish Gambino’s “This is America” as well as “Somebody I Used to Know” (Amazon) and “Opus” (A24). For his presentation, Ernie recounted his creative journey from shooting music videos on the cheap with friends to working on acclaimed projects for major distributors and studios. He also gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at “The Production Assistant,” the short film he captured on the Canon EOS C50.
