Canon Canada was proud to sponsor the 36th Canadian National Japanese Speech Contest, held March 30 at York University in Toronto. Established in 1989 to promote Japanese language education in Canada, the contest brings together winners from seven regional competitions across the country to compete in four categories: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Open. This year, 24 contestants gave speeches on topics of their own choosing.
Cheuk Yen (Cheryl) Leung received the Canon Award for placing third in the Intermediate category with her speech “Collecting Mania … Treasure or Waste?” Leung took home a PowerShot V10.
