Canon Canada has been a proud member of Brampton’s thriving business community since 2016, when it opened its state-of-the-art headquarters as a home for hundreds of employers from the Greater Toronto Area. Across the country, the company employs more than 800 people in 12 offices.

According to the Brampton Board of Trade, the Innovation category honours “driven and determined…visionaries [who] are champions of innovations, pushing our imaginations and city forward with every new idea.”

Over the past two years, COVID-19 has changed how offices and businesses look and operate. To help companies meet these evolving challenges, Canon Canada turned its imaging technology toward an innovative solution. Secure Entry Tracking (SET) is a biometric system that automates pre-screening to promote healthy and safe work environments for visitors and staff. The hardware component – called TASK, or Temperature and Advanced Screening Kiosk – is an automated thermal temperature screening and facial recognition kiosk. This innovation has been invaluable during the pandemic, and the company anticipates it will continue to be as a security solution in a post-pandemic world.

Many companies have shifted to remote work, others have adopted a hybrid setup, while others have returned onsite at full capacity. The award also honours the company’s latest innovative solutions – from remote operation, which allows users to control shared office devices with their mobile device, to our latest multifunction imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX devices, designed to accelerate and support digital transformation journeys – that ensure customers will thrive in whatever work environment they choose.

“Thank you to the Brampton Board of Trade for this special recognition,” says Nobuhiko Kitajima, President and CEO of Canon Canada. “The past two years have presented new challenges, and Canon has responded by developing solutions that allow businesses to thrive in any work environment: remote, hybrid and onsite. Imaging has always been our core, and we will continue to adapt our cutting-edge technologies to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
