In support of the Canon Americas Environmental Charter, Canon Canada encourages the collection and recycling of its products at the end of their lifetime. Throughout October and November, Canon Canada hosted curbside recycling events at its offices in Calgary, Saint-Laurent, Mississauga and Brampton for employees to responsibly discard their no-longer-needed consumer electronics and used clothing and textiles. Canon partnered with eCycle, Diabetes Canada and Entraide diabétique du Québec to ensure that the collected materials were responsibly diverted from landfills.

In total, employees diverted 458 pounds of consumer electronics and 4,219 pounds of clothing and textiles from landfills. Valuable materials – such as gold, copper and aluminum – will be extracted from the electronics and sold globally as a commodity.
