How much does it cost to join Canon Student Advantage?
We know school is expensive so we’re here to help! An annual Canon Student Advantage membership is free to all eligible students enrolled in a Canadian secondary or post-secondary educational institution.
Is my student discount available on sale items?
Yes, your Canon Student Advantage discount is on top of the listed sale price of eligible models at participating dealers.
How many purchases can I make with my Canon Student Advantage membership?
With your Canon Student Advantage membership, you’re eligible to receive a discount on up to 4 products for each membership period. Four (4) purchases includes up to two bodies or body/lens kits, and up to two lenses.
If I need to service or repair my gear how long will it take for me to get it back?
With your Canon Student Advantage membership, you get expedited service turnaround. For warranty repairs, Canon will repair your equipment within eight (8) business days of receiving your damaged equipment at our repair facility in Brampton, Ontario and will ship it back to you free of charge. For out-of-warranty repairs, once we receive your gear at our repair facility, a Canon technician will estimate it in 24-48 hours. Repairs can take up to eight (8) business days to complete once we receive your payment. A shipping charge will be added to estimates for out-of-warranty repairs (see below).
How much is my discount on service and repairs?
Canon Student Advantage members receive a 20% discount (parts and labour) on eligible products. Repairs are priced on a parts and labour basis, and each repair is estimated separately.
Who at Canon will deal with my service and repair requests?
Service and repair requests for students are administered through our Canon Professional Services (CPS) department. You can generate a shipping label from your online portal to ship your equipment to CPS for assessment and repair.
How much does it cost to ship my equipment to Canon Canada?
Canon Student Advantage members receive subsidized incoming overnight shipping charges ($10) when eligible product shipments are identified using our Canon Student Advantage shipping waybill. These charges will be added to the service or repair estimate. Return shipping is free for warranty repairs, and a flat $10 fee will be charged for return shipping of out-of-warranty service.
What do I need to be part of Canon Student Advantage?
You’re eligible to join the Canon Student Advantage annual membership as long as you’re a student at an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational institution in Canada, and can provide proof in the form of a student ID card. In the odd case where students have not been given an ID card, a course schedule or letter from the institution are acceptable to confirm enrolment.

Is all Canon gear eligible for a service discount?
No, there is a restricted list of eligible products in order to guarantee parts availability and to reduce service times. The restricted list covers current professional product that is covered by the Canon Student Advantage service plan. Products not on this list will not be covered by the Canon Student Advantage service turnaround guidelines nor will they be eligible for service discount. Please contact Canon Student Services to inquire about a specific product.
Terms and Conditions
Canon Student Advantage Terms and Conditions
I am applying for membership in Canon Student Advantage with Canon Canada Inc. (“Canon”) (the “Membership”) and hereby agree to the following terms and conditions (this “Agreement”):
Membership
- I have reached the legal age of majority in my jurisdiction of residence and have every right to contract in my own name, or I am the parent/legal guardian for the individual applying to Canon Student Advantage and as such I am fully authorized and entitled to enter into these terms and conditions on his/her behalf; and agree to become a party to, and to be legally bound by, these terms and conditions in my personal capacity.
- Membership is available only for legal residents of Canada and are enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program in an accredited educational institution in Canada.
- All applications are subject to the approval by Canon, in its sole discretion. You are not eligible for membership if you have been previously expelled from any version of our Canon Student Advantage; and if expelled from this program for cause, you will not be eligible for future membership.
- I hereby represent and warrant that all information submitted with my application is true and accurate and that I meet all eligibility requirements.
- If accepted into the Canon Student Advantage by Canon, I will receive the benefits afforded to me under the Student membership level that I have applied for.
- I will keep my profile information up to date, including my mailing address and email addresses so that I may receive any and all notices, if any, that Canon may need to send me under Canon Student Advantage.
Term and Renewal
- The Membership term is one (1) year, unless cancelled by Canon, in its sole discretion. If enrolled in a four (4) year program I can reapply for an additional one (1) year Canon Student Advantage memberships at the applicable charge. If I desire to become a Pro CPS member following the expiration of my Canon Student Advantage membership, I understand that I will be required to submit a new application and pay the full amount of the applicable Gold or Platinum membership.
Program Changes and Termination
- Canon may change or otherwise modify Canon Student Advantage at any time by posting updated Terms and Conditions on the Canon Student Advantage website. All members must have internet access and the ability to navigate the Canon Student Advantage website throughout the term of enrollment.
- Failure to adhere to the Terms and Conditions of membership may result in my expulsion from Canon Student Advantage by Canon and I will not be entitled to any refund or any other legal or equitable remedy. Canon may terminate any and all of the benefits under Canon Student Advantage at any time with or without notice.
Cancelation Policy
- I have the right to cancel my Membership at any time by providing notice in writing to Canon. Canon may terminate your Membership, without notice, for any reason in our sole discretion, including without limitation our belief that continued use of such Membership would violate any provisions of this Agreement, applicable law, or otherwise be harmful to our interests.
Indemnity
- As a member of Canon Student Advantage I agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Canon, its officers, directors, employees, agents information providers, licensers and suppliers from and against all losses, expenses, damages and costs, including reasonable legal fees, resulting from any violation of this Agreement or any activity related to your Membership (including infringement of third parties’ intellectual property rights, wherever arising, or negligent or wrongful conduct).
Disclaimer of Warranties
- I acknowledge that Canon makes no warranties or representations of any kind with respect to the prospects for any business relationship between us as a result of this agreement. Nothing in this agreement shall be deemed to create a partnership, joint venture or relationship of employment between us.
Limitation of Liability
- CANON AND ALL ITS RESPECTIVE AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS AND AGENTS ASSUME NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOST PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSESS (EVEN IF CANON HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES), RESULTING FROM : (i) THE USE OR THE INABILITY TO USE CANON STUDENT ADVANTAGE OR ANY BENEFITS THEREOF; (ii) THE COST OF PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS AND SERVICES RESULTING FROM ANY GOODS, DATA, INFORMATION OR SERVICES PURCHASED OR OBTAINED OR MESSAGES RECEIVED OR TRANSACTIONS ENTERED VIA THE USE OF CANON STUDENT ADVANTAGE; (iii) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR CANON STUDENT ADVANTAGE DATA; OR (iv) ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO CANON STUDENT ADVANTAGE.
Assignment
- This Agreement and the membership benefits afforded hereunder may not be assigned or otherwise transferred by me and any attempted assignment or transfer shall be void and may result in termination of membership, at the sole discretion of Canon.
Miscellaneous Terms and Conditions
- This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada. This Agreement shall not be amended or otherwise modified except in a writing authorized by Canon. In the event that any one or more of the provisions of the agreement is unenforceable, the enforceability of the remaining provisions shall be unimpaired.
Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
- By clicking “I AGREE”, I am confirming that I have read, and agree to, the Terms and Conditions as well as the applicable membership benefits and services, which are part of this agreement and are incorporated herein by reference, and that this sets forth the entire understanding and agreement between myself and Canon with respect to Canon Student Advantage.
