CANON CANADA ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF TWO NEW MOBILE IMAGING RETROFIT KITS

MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 23, 2012 – Canon Canada Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced the availability of two new RadPRO® Digital Mobile Upgrade kits for Definium® and AMX/4+™ systems. These new kits, which have received medical device licensing from Health Canada, enable healthcare providers to convert certain existing mobile imaging systems to Digital Radiography (DR) using Canon’s Flat Panel Detectors.

 “Canon’s new upgrade kits offer healthcare providers a cost effective way to bring their technology into the digital age and make it easy to capture high quality diagnostic images for routine diagnosis, challenging trauma and bedside exams,” said Ian Macfarlane, Senior Vice-President of Sales and Service Operations, Canon Canada Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon USA Inc. “The upgrade kits allow healthcare providers an efficient and inexpensive alternative to complete system replacement.”

Definium® and AMX/4+™ system users can upgrade their existing GE system with a RadPRO® Digital Mobile Upgrade kit that includes the Canon CXDI-70C™ Wireless Detector, featuring a 35.5 x 43.1-centimetre (14 x 17-inch) imaging area. Users can further expand the functionality of their mobile unit with a Dual Panel upgrade that will add the 27.9 x 35.5-centimetre (11 x 14-inch), CXDI-80C™ Wireless flat panel, which is ideal for NICU and pediatric applications.

The mobile retrofit kits will upgrade existing CR-based mobile x-ray systems to DR technology. This upgrade will facilitate wireless image transmission to the hospital’s PACS and provide immediate image access for on-site physicians. The mobile imaging systems serve critical care and general x-ray patients throughout the hospital.

The Canon RadPRO® Digital Mobile Upgrade Kit  for AMX 4/4+™ and the Definium® both offer healthcare providers a number of advantages, including the ability to create, manage and manipulate digital images at bedside; flexible patient positioning; improved workflow and patient throughput; three to five second image preview and full DICOM® connectivity with storage, and modality work list  support. Additionally, both solutions eliminate the need to carry cassettes to a CR reader. Both the CXDI-70C™ and CXDI-80C™ Wireless panels provide less X-ray exposure to the patient thanks to their Cesium (Csl) scintillators.[i]

The Canon RadPRO® Digital Mobile Upgrade Kit for AMX 4/4+™ and the Definium® are currently available directly from Canon Canada or through authorized Canon Canada Medical Equipment dealers.
