Canon introduces new media handling capability for its flagship high-volume Arizona flatbed printers
· New High Flow Vacuum capability for Océ Arizona 6100 Series printers supporting the robust and reliable printing of difficult-to-constrain media types
· Arizona print quality at speeds up to 1668 ft² per hour for uncoated corrugated cardboard, plywood and rigid fibreboard printing applications
· Featuring six or seven colour channels, automated printhead maintenance and pneumatic media registration pins with an industrial high-flow vacuum system
Available for both the 6-colour Océ Arizona 6160 XTS and 7-colour Océ Arizona 6170 XTS models, the new High Flow Vacuum configuration extends the award-winning printing capacity of these printer models to applications traditionally served by screen printing or lithographic lamination. Users can now load and print on difficult media, such as highly porous corrugated cardboard and severely warped plywood, without taping or mechanically constraining it in any way.
Designed to generate more than 15x the continuous air flow at the media surface compared to the standard vacuum system, the new High Flow Vacuum makes printing these difficult-to-handle media easy and predictable; without the need for adhesive tape, gripper mechanisms or mechanical constraints at the edges. This is great news for customers producing structural displays or short run packaging applications on inexpensive, uncoated, corrugated cardboard.
Featuring unrestricted air ways and an Océ-patented airflow management system, designed to bring all available airflow to bear instantly, the new High Flow Vacuum configuration makes loading even severely warped media easy and efficient. This enables plywood, MDF and other fibre-board and wood printing applications that would otherwise require mechanical constraint of the media to handle effectively. And to better support the printing of 63” wide paper fibreboard media such as Re-Board® or Xanita®, the new configuration boasts an even larger print area than standard. An extra-large vacuum surface of 98.4” x 126” allows for 2-up printing of 63” x 98.4” boards and the standard pneumatic registration pins ensure easy, repeatable rigid media loading.
“The Océ Arizona 6100 Series has become well established in the flatbed printing market for delivering higher speeds without compromising print quality. The new High Flow Vacuum configuration will extend the reach of this successful series to media such as uncoated corrugated cardboard, paper fibreboard and plywood that may be inefficient or impractical to print with the standard configuration. It makes printing on cardboard POP displays or wooden panelling applications more user friendly and less complicated” said Patrick D’Souza, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Canon Canada. “This will give our customers an affordable way to transition production of these applications to a digital platform and provide an excellent opportunity for innovation and growth.”
