Grand Opening Event at Canon Canada
BRAMPTON, ON, November 4, 2016 - Canon Canada officially opened its new headquarters in Brampton, Ontario and rolled out the red carpet for distinguished guests at a grand opening celebration on November 4. Politicians from all levels of government, corporate business partners, the Japanese Consulate in Toronto and Mr. Joe Adachi Chairman and CEO at Canon USA were in attendance. All were recognized for their continued support and contributions.
“The design and development of the new Canadian headquarters reflect the hallmarks of all Canon products: simplicity, quality, functionality, integration of glass and light, environmentally-conscious, and innovation,” says Mr. Ted Egawa, President & CEO of Canon Canada. “Canon’s kyosei philosophy means living and working together into the future and this is harmonized throughout our building and in how we conduct ourselves.”
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of Canon Canada’s headquarters showroom. Guests were among the first to tour the new 5,000 square foot interactive space that showcases the past, present and future of Canon innovation. From Canon cameras, printers and projectors to medical imaging equipment, copiers and production products, the showroom will always display the latest Canon products for customers and prospective customers.
A special gift was presented to Canon Canada from the City of Brampton. Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey was joined by Regional Councillor Michael Palleschi, City Councillor Doug Whillans, Member of Provincial Parliament Vic Dhillon and City Councillor Jeff Bowman to present Mr. Ted Egawa and Mr. Joe Adachi with a new street sign called ‘Canon Way.’ The private street that leads into the Canon Canada’s property will be renamed and the sign will appear by the end of the year.
“We’re proud to call Brampton home,” continued Mr. Ted Egawa. “We’re thrilled to be a member of the Brampton business community and to join the many great brands and companies who have established their office or headquarters in this city.”
Located at the corner of Mississauga Road and Steeles Avenue West, the new Canon Canada headquarters is a five-story state-of-the-art building and reflects the company’s worldwide commitment to the environment and sustainability. Built on more than 18 acres, the site is surrounded by green space. It includes a walking trail, drought-resistant landscaping and a naturalized storm water management pond to benefit Canon and the adjacent residential community.
The building will receive Gold certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental design (LEED) rating system. Sustainable design elements planned include: the incorporation of lots of natural light, energy-efficient equipment and collecting rain water for reuse. Other amenities include: Full-Service Cafeteria, Fitness Centre, Reflection Room, Bike Racks, Two-Tiered Terrace and accessible green spaces.
